The Challenge

The goal for this project was to find sustainable solutions by reusing and repurposing as much furniture as possible.

Back in 2013, Contract Furnishings outfitted Retail Success’s 9,000 square foot space. In 2017, the company purchased a 22,000 square foot building in Overland Park to be their new corporate headquarters. We were tasked with designing a workspace to compete with local competition that attracts and retains the best talent. Reusing as much of the existing furniture as possible, we also had to provide stable products that would endure wear and tear over time as the company grows.

Scope & Outcome

The new space has three wings with centralized common areas. Among the spaces, we utilized free-standing desks, cubicles, height-adjustable desks, monitor arms, team gathering tables, lounge furniture, lockers and outdoor furniture. We chose a wide array of new and used product based on the functionality of each space and team member and, of course, budget. We were able to re-use 75% of the furniture used in their previous office.
